Vive la France!

Marc-Antoine was of course happy to see his handiwork conquer the charts in critical territories like Germany and Italy, but it will give him special pride to see that FaceFighter has achieved #1 status in paid arcade games in his motherland, France!

#1 France

This achievement is especially notable for Appy Entertainment as we’ve achieved this rank without overt assistance from Apple. While FaceFighter was favored with an Apple “Staff Favorite” recognition in Germany, neither Italy nor France were so blessed … it’s good to know we can make our way in major markets, and this is continuing evidence that Apple has created a robust marketplace where micropublishers like Appy can fight it out on a level playing field with big dogs like Electronic Arts.

Now, we just need to see some more momentum in North America. Our free version of FaceFighter is pushing up into the 70s in the U.S. after just a day or so in the market, and we’re ten ranks higher than that in Canada, so the try-it-before-you-buy-it version of our flagship game is getting some traction with the home folks. North American paid ranks have seen a slight uptick since the free version was released, reversing an equally slight decline, so we are hopeful we can make some sales headway over the weekend, where we have traditionally seen our strongest numbers.

Thanks to players around the world for their continuing support of FaceFighter (and especially to our French fans, the newest members of the #1 club)! Work continues on FaceFighter updates here at the Secret Worldwide Headquarters, and our fingers are crossed that FaceFigher 2.0 — featuring head-to-head multiplayer — can enter beta in the week ahead. When 2.0 is ready to go (and it will be a FREE update, of course), you’ll hear it here first!
